Jan: For the first FoW ETC in Poland the best team member at ESC was Tevž. If I recall correctly he was third.
I have only managed to get the most points during the team event.
Nothing really changed in the meantime, I still love the game and play with as much enthusiasm as I did at that time.
Jan: I have played with Finnish infantry like I have done for every ETC so far. They have for sure the top 3 infantry in EW but really suffer from the lack of a decent tank support. I really like to play with other armies as well but ETC is when everyone needs to put out their best and so the Finns are just always the best choice.
After last year's ETC I have decided to play anything else but infantry because I got a bit bored but as I haven't had any chance to play FoW this year (I have played 6 games in the whole year before ETC) Tevž and I decided it is better to stick with something I remember how to play.
That is why the ESC win was completely unexpected. I remember how terribly bad I was playing in Pivka tournament and was just hoping I am not going to do lots of regretable mistakes. Lots of things came together in the end, right opponents in the right scenarios and most importantly a roll-off to determine the attacker in a defensive battle versus Soviet infantry went my way. I think this year I have had a lot more luck than brains.
Jan: Serbia managed to organize by far the best FoW event ever, the only downside was the terrain. That was by far the best in Poland. Czech Republic was struggling on all lines. It was especially depressing to wait in line for 10 minutes to get a beer which was then served by a topless guy...
TM: Koliko partija FoW-a odigraš godišnje?
Jan: I have played exactly 6 games (1 tournament and two friendly games) after last year's and this year's ETC. Before moving away I on average played a game every 2 weeks.
Jan: The only thing to watch out and avoid is playing the game in a routine way. Strange ideas quite often work in my opinion but.
Which type to choose depends on your play style. You learn the most if you choose the one that doesn't suit you :)
Jan: I wouldn't yet like to comment on this. All I can say is that the information about Polish team cheating was quite misleading...
Jan: I tend to keep the same dice the entire time and I believe that players don't use loaded die but I wouldn't mind to use the dice provided by an organizer if that was the case.
